NOVEMBER 7 TO 10, 2018 – INCLUDING TRAVEL TIME
Are you ready to share your passion for Covenant House to help a group of resilient young women in Guatemala? This is your opportunity to get to know the extraordinary residents, staff, and programs of La Alianza Guatemala (ALA). Experience first-hand their impact in the community and learn ways in which we can contribute to Covenant House’s international work.
When you take part in the La Alianza Guatemala Service Trip, you receive a two day immersive experience including the following.
- Visit neighborhoods, markets, and other places where ALA works with at-risk youth
- Meet our residents: participate in activities with children and staff at the residence home
- Visit a vocational training center: witness our staff preparing youth for employment
- Participate in a service activity: volunteer at La Alianza Guatemala and fulfill some of their most urgent needs
- We will take care of all the logistics and arrangements, although each participant is expected to pay for his/her travel expenses.
Click here to view/print a flyer with information about costs and details about the service trip. Every participant is required to raise $3,000 for La Alianza Guatemala in conjunction with this trip. A fundraising web page is provided to you upon registration and a team at Covenant House is available to help you reach your goal.
If you have any questions, Carolyn Collantes, Covenant House Ambassador for Latin America, is available to support your fundraising efforts. She can be reached at ccollantes@covenanthouse.org or via phone at 212-727-4056.
ABOUT LA ALIANZA GUATEMALA
Founded in 1981, Casa Alianza Guatemala is known today as La Alianza Guatemala (ALA). ALA cares and protects girls and teenagers ages 12-18 who are victims of trafficking and sexual violence. The average number of residents are 50-60 girls, teenagers, and their babies. Our residence is the only 24-hour shelter of its kind in Guatemala, dedicated to trafficked and exploited girls and plays a vital role in modeling the kind of comprehensive services that are necessary to meet the physical and emotional needs of these resilient girls.
