Service trips to Latin America are an incredible way to help our kids and learn about our work at the Casas.
Why Join a Service Trip with Casa Alianza?
Get to know the extraordinary residents, staff, and programs of Casa Alianza Nicaragua, La Alianza in Guatemala, and Casa Alianza Mexico. Experience firsthand the impact of our Casas in their communities and learn how you can contribute to Covenant House’s international work.
Over our 35-year history, the directors of our Casas in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Honduras have become internationally recognized experts in children’s rights, leading advocacy efforts to combat homelessness and human trafficking, while providing critically needed direct multi-disciplinary services. In 2017 alone, 1,000 children ages 12 to 18 resided in our four Casas, and more than 10,000 others received essential services through our community programs, outreach, and anti-trafficking services.
Fundraising and/or Donation
When you sign up for one of our service trips, you agree to become a fundraiser for our critical programs. We ask that all participants commit either to fundraise $3,000 (platform provided by Covenant House) or make a personal contribution of $3,000 to support our life-changing work in Mexico, Nicaragua, or Guatemala.
Travel Logistics
Each service trip member must book and pay for their own plane ticket as well as cover their hotel and food costs. However, a Casa Alianza staff member will book the hotel and take care of ground transportation and related logistics. Approximate travel costs include: Hotel: $110 + tax/night; Airfare: $500-$900; Food: $50-$65/day.

Service Trip Agenda
Service activities are based on Casa Alianza’s needs (i.e. painting, gardening, sports, empowerment workshops).The agenda usually consists of two full days of immersion including some of these activities:
- Visit to neighborhoods, markets, and other places where we work with at-risk-youth
- Visit with our boys and girls as well as our moms and babies, with the opportunity to participate in activities with children and staff
- Visit to a vocational training center where our youth are being prepared for employment
- Visit a family in which a young person has been reintegrated after being at our shelter
- Talk with youth who now have successful jobs and are living independently
